This Buyer's Journey
Time was feeling incredibly tight for this busy family, who were juggling multiple educational needs for their three children, a business based in Sydney, international travel commitments, and the strong desire to secure a property in Byron Bay as soon as possible. Like many others during the post-pandemic rush, they were feeling the pressure — properties were moving quickly, travel was difficult, and nothing was lining up. They were after a genuine escape from city life, but the process of finding it was becoming overwhelming and to stressful to manage a purchase on their own.
How I helped find the perfect home
This client was referred to me whilst I was working at Highspec Properties. She had been referred to me through a mutual connection who had recommended me as a local Byron Bay buyers agent who could move fast on the ground and find her the property she was ultimately looking for to suit her family.
I explained that I could cover a lot of territory and uncover opportunities that weren’t necessarily hitting the market on her behalf and given the pace of the local property scene, it made all the difference to her. Stress levels were high, and they knew they needed help to claw back time, reduce travel, and take a strategic step toward their rural property dream. I got straight into the search and within the first 2 weeks, I covered a huge amount of ground — both physically and strategically.
Rural property searches are time-consuming at the best of times, with inspections often spread across large acreages and multiple dwellings, and some of the properties we looked at had more than 50 acres to assess. By doing the legwork locally on her behalf, I was able to filter what was really worth their time — giving my clients the ability to view both on- and off-market opportunities from the comfort of their home in Sydney, and at times that suited their lifestyle. This didn’t just save time — it saved energy, stress, and a significant amount of money that would have gone into repeated flights, accommodation, and missed work and family time.
This particular property had actually been dismissed by my clients early on — but as is often the case, what you see online doesn’t always reflect the full potential of a property. I knew the moment I inspected it in person that it offered something far more than the listing suggested. The multiple dwellings gave the family flexibility now and into the future, the large shed (complete with bathroom and firepit) added even more functional space, and the addition of a gym and detached studio meant every family member could have their own space to retreat or work when needed. The infrastructure was outstanding — not just impressive, but practical — and it offered a balance of style, scale, and setting that is rarely found in Byron.
By taking them through enough properties and offering honest insight, I was able to give them the confidence that this one — the one they nearly overlooked — actually ticked all the boxes. Helping them see it from a fresh perspective made all the difference. The search moved fast, and they secured their Byron Bay sanctuary far sooner than expected. It was a privilege to guide them through the process and be part of such a special and rewarding chapter in their story.
