Superb Hilltop Art Deco Estate with New Cottage, Expansive Block & Stunning Rural Views
For these buyers, it was the rare blend they’d been searching for — the peace of acreage living without the overwhelm, perfect for their demanding jobs and busy family life
This Buyer's Journey
When I first spoke to these buyers, they were feeling defeated. They had already endured a long and emotionally draining search for their family home, and despite offering the highest price on a property they loved, they had lost out. The experience left them devastated. With demanding jobs involving long, unsociable hours, a young family to care for, and all the responsibilities that come with daily life, the thought of starting over was overwhelming.
They were determined not to go through that kind of experience again.
What they really wanted was to move forward—to finally find the peaceful, private home they had been dreaming of. They were looking for a rural property that felt like a sanctuary—somewhere they could escape the noise and busyness of their professional lives, but still be within easy reach of towns, schools, the beach, and essential amenities. They wanted a small acreage property, nothing to big as they didn’t want the cost or upkeep that typically comes with maintaining large land. The home had to offer serenity, privacy, and convenience—but most importantly, it had to feel right for their lifestyle.
After hearing from friends I’d previously helped—who described their experience as straightforward and stress-free—they reached out to see if I could help them avoid the heartache of another misstep. They needed guidance, reassurance, and someone who could take the reins and steer things in the right direction.
How I helped find the perfect home
After meeting them and taking the time to understand what was truly important for their next chapter, I refined their brief and began actively sourcing on- and off-market opportunities. Within 14 days I had been through a large number of properties and was getting really clear on what was important to them.
Within those 2 weeks, one property stood out—not because it ticked every box on their original list, but because I could see how perfectly it could serve their needs. It wasn’t acreage, but the moment I walked through the door, I knew it had the feel they were after. Although right in town, the home was completely private. With no neighbours in sight and beautiful views over the adjoining reserve, it gave the feeling of space and seclusion without the maintenance that acreage demands and was still on a near 1/2 acre block so unusually large and spacious for a block in town.
The home itself had character and charm—an art deco style that I knew would resonate with their creative sensibilities. It was ready to move into, yet held long-term potential as well: the size of the block and the dual approved dwellings offered future flexibility, including possible subdivision opportunities.
The negotiation process for this home was complex, with multiple parties involved and sensitive moving parts throughout. As their buyer’s agent, I managed these challenges discreetly and strategically, keeping them informed and offering strategies throughout the process. Despite the unique nature of the property and the competition surrounding it, I was able to secure the home for them below the price guide—an excellent result, particularly given the scale, setting, and value on offer.
It was a privilege to help them navigate this chapter and ultimately secure a home that turned out to be even more perfect than what they originally imagined. Sometimes, the right property isn’t what you think you’re looking for—it’s what makes you feel at home the moment you walk through the door.
